ESWO would like to thank all guests, sponsors, donors, and contributors for their support and commitment to making our first ever Virtual Gala a success!
Our 34th Annual Gala was scheduled to be held in the spring, but with the current pandemic, ESWO took necessary precautions and postponed this fundraising event. Instead, our Gala was held VIRTUALLY on November 6, 2020, to raise funds and epilepsy awareness from the comfort of our own homes! We are pleased to announce that we raised approximately $25,640 to help further our mission and enhance the lives of individuals living with epilepsy.
The evening was hosted by CTV News London Reporter, Nick Paparella, and included live pre-party entertainment from local musician and youth living with epilepsy, Sarina Haggarty, plus an all-request show at the end of the night featuring Joe from Main Street Dueling Pianos. We encouraged guests to purchase charcuterie boxes from our dinner partner, Cravings Creative, as well as follow along with our mixologist, Aaron, from Hunter & Co. The event also included an online silent auction and recognition of our H.O.P.E. award recipient: the Oke family.
Each year, ESWO presents a H.O.P.E. award (Helping Out People with Epilepsy). It is awarded to an individual, group of individuals, or organization who has demonstrated compassion and caring for people living with epilepsy. We were pleased to present the 2020 award to the Oke family.
Thank you to the entire Oke family for the blood, sweat, and tears they have poured into organizing Golf Tournaments in support of ESWO! We are such a small charity and the amount of money they have contributed over the years is so significant to us. In addition to raising money, we want to thank them for raising epilepsy awareness. They have put epilepsy on the radar for every tournament sponsor, donor, volunteer, and golfer. Team Oke is very deserving of the 2020 H.O.P.E. award, and we are so very thankful for what they have done to improve the lives of people living with epilepsy and their families.
A big thank you to all of our guests, event contributors, and donors as we moved this year’s event to a virtual gala.
