We’re Hiring: Executive Director

Background

Epilepsy Southwestern Ontario (ESWO) enhances the lives of people who are affected by epilepsy and seizure disorders by providing a network of services that educate, support, and build community awareness.  Our vision is a community free of barriers where persons affected by epilepsy and seizure disorders are empowered and supported to live a life of dignity, self-worth, and hope. ESWO is a registered, non-profit organization providing support and educational services to people living with epilepsy, their families, and their communities. 

ESWO is comprised of a team of individuals with education in the fields of social work, psychology, human resources, program management, communications, education, masters of public health, masters of recreation therapy, masters of program evaluation. All staff report to the Executive Director, who reports to a volunteer Board of Directors.  Additionally, there are over 400 volunteers that help the agency to carry out its mission.

Requirements:

Education

  • Post secondary diploma or degree in Social Services, Human Services, Non-Profit Management, or related field of study

Experience

  • 3-5 years management experience leading teams
  • Demonstrated success in grant writing and fundraising
  • Demonstrated success in budget management
  • Experience building positive, productive relationships with people and organizations that represent diverse communities
  • Experience supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion within an organization

 

Competencies

  • Excellent knowledge of grant processes, writing, and practices
  • Strong knowledge of financial and budgeting aspects of an organization
  • Must have good interpersonal, conflict, and negotiation skills
  • Areas of expertise include strategic planning, board governance, fund development, financial and human resources management, outcome evaluation, and communications and public relations
  • A systems-thinker who filters ideas through well‐defined strategic directions to achieve business goals
  • Strong human resource skills
  • Ability to motivate people to take action through exceptional writing and speaking
  • Passionate, open-minded, and experience working with vulnerable populations

Salary:

TBD based on education and experience.
